Blackfals: What's In It For You?

In spite of what the mall Santa told your kids, we don’t usually get everything we want in life. Of course, for every rule there’s an exception. Take, for example, the Blackfalds. As a small Alberta town in close proximity to larger centers, Blackfalds is one of those rare commodities in the real estate world: A place that can grant everything on your wish list (within reason).

As you peruse the MLS, you’ll see a range of property types and sizes. Each has its pros and cons, but the common thread is that they’re all ideally situated to meet a wide range of wants and needs. If it’s on your to-do list, chances are you can do it in or near Blackfalds.

No matter what you select from the Blackfalds listings, you’ll be choosing a community in a prime location in mid-south central Alberta, just minutes from Red Deer and a kilometer from Highway 2 with direct links to Edmonton and Calgary.

Homes in Blackfalds enjoy a wealth of employment opportunities on their doorstep, including the industrial area of Red Deer, which serves as a base for the oilfield servicing, manufacturing, and construction industries.

It also benefits from being the nearest urban center to Joffre area petrochemical plants, which might explain its impressive unemployment rate of 2%.

…while you Learn

As gateways to a better future, education and Blackfalds have a lot in common. Parents will be pleased with the high standards for schooling in the area, starting with the Iron Ridge elementary and junior high schools that boast excellent records of academic achievement.

Ten minutes down the road from Blackfalds, Lacombe Composite High School is considered one of Alberta’s best secondary schools, while Red Deer College and Canadian University College in Lacombe are internationally recognized institutions.

Sure, your kids will still whine about getting up early and trudging to class, but at least they’ll learn something when they get there.

Work without play is like a warm-up band without a main act: Decent but unsustainable. Fortunately, when you close that deal from the MLS, you’ll open up a world of possibilities for family play time.

In town, you’ll find a recreation center with an arena, a library, skateboard park and spray park, not to mention plenty of greenspace and walking trails. Venture a bit farther afield from your new Blackfalds residence to Red Deer or Lacombe and take advantage of numerous cultural venues, community events, entertainment and a multi-use facility with a swimming pool, fitness areas and playgrounds. If you prefer golf clubs to night clubs, enjoy the local 18-hole course with superb dining and stunning lake views.

…then Pray

For those who like some religion with their new home purchase, they’ll find three churches in the Blackfalds community and a host of others close by. Even if you’re not religious, churches can be a great place to socialize and connect with your new neighbors.

Close to home, buyers can choose from a range of shops and eateries, as well as a grocery store, drug store, hair salons and a trendy coffee shop. For anything else, you’re just a stone’s throw from Red Deer’s north end and its popular Parkland Mall.

…’til you Drop

When it’s time to unwind after a stressful day, you’ll discover what makes this town unique and one of central Alberta’s fastest growing communities: Countless opportunities to learn, earn, play and shop, all against the backdrop of a safe, friendly and close-knit community.

When it comes to the Blackfalds, maybe Santa was right; you really can have it all. So the next time he promises your kids the moon, maybe you should bite the bullet, grab your wallet and shop ‘til you drop. Then send him the bill.
